In this contribution, editor and filmmaker Khalid Shamis draws a parallel between the act of editing and the diasporic experience. Arguing that both are processes of continual becoming, he explores the editing room as a “third space” where fragments of self, lineage, and history can be rearranged and reinterpreted.
Shamis is a London-born, Libyan–South African documentary director, producer, and editor with over 25 years of experience working across Africa, the Middle East, and the UK.
