The Network of Arab Alternative Screens has been active since 2007 and counts 23 members in 10 Arab countries with an executive office in Berlin, Germany. NAAS envisions communities across the Arabic-speaking region taking ownership of their available resources and of the decision-making around their allocation. NAAS provides opportunities and resources for the cinema exhibition sector to cultivate critical thinking and dialogue among audiences across the Arabic-speaking region.
NAAS e.V. seeks to engage an Executive Director starting from January 2nd, 2023.
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall management of NAAS e.V.’s administrative, operational and fundraising functions. They coordinate and facilitate the activities of the network and its stakeholders. They must be able to travel to represent NAAS.
A successful candidate will have 7 years of relevant professional experience in the arts and cultural sector and be comfortable working in Arabic and English (German and/or French is a plus). They must possess a proven track record as senior manager of a cultural/ non-profit organization and demonstrated interest in alternative cinema and film. Furthermore, they will have a background in organizational administration in Germany and/or the Arab region and familiarity with the EU fundraising landscape. Moreover, the candidate shall have working experience in facilitation, coordination, and/ or mediation capacities. They reside preferably in Europe and are willing to relocate to Berlin .

The Executive Director is appointed by and reports to the Steering Committee and the administrative board of the network. Responsibilities include the following:
Lead the development of the organization as a whole to advance the mission in accordance with the strategic plan and the bylaws
Oversee network-wide programs (including granting and training and regional meetings) and initiatives, from conception to evaluation, as well as involvement of committees
Coordinate between all the organization’s bodies including general assembly, steering committee, board of directors and manage the governance meetings according to the bylaws
Guide and manage the staff and workflow, including implementation of annual calendar
Discharge and appoint staff
Develop and ensure the implementation of a fundraising strategy
Lead annual strategic planning session in order to assess progress of the organization and to plan for the future
Represent the organization in public forums and in the media, including travel engagements
Sign off on applications, proposals, and narrative and financial reports
Maintain and build strategic partnerships with key funders and peer organizations
Cultivate relationships with members and stakeholders
Oversee legal and financial procedures
NAAS will offer a salary commensurate with the professional experience of the candidate and flexible working conditions. The employment contract includes social security according to German law.
